“No animal, according to the rules of animal-etiquette, is ever expected to do anything strenuous, or heroic, or even moderately active during the off-season of winter.”
― Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows
During the winter I like to be outside as much as possible, but there aren’t as many chores
to do as in the summertime. So when I have to shovel paths to the outer buildings I just carry on and make more to different parts of the yard. Molly always enjoys watching me and eating snow.
This one leads to a bench that overlooks a labyrinth in summer and in winter it gives a view of the towering trees covered in snow. Sometimes if I sit awhile I’ll see some critters scurrying about. Something for Molly to chase;
she never catches them.
This one leads to the outdoor stove and bench where a lit fire creates a warm ambiance summer and winter. In winter it’s pleasant to sit here alone or with someone and share a glass of mulled wine – enjoying the scents of winter.
In the meantime Molly waits patiently, winter whiskers and all,,,
Until next time
