After the Rain

It rained for three days and we were cooped up in the cabin. In the summer I don’t mind walking Molly in the rain but this time of year it’s a bit to chilly for me. So we snuggled in and did a lot of reading (me) and napping (the dogs) 🙂

So when the dogs were allowed out to run this morning they had a wonderful time. It is rare that Jake will  play with Molly. Today I think they were both so happy to be free that he accepted her antics and joined in.

A lot of our snow is gone. The rain took away most of it but then, last night there were a few flakes falling and this left a light covering over everything again.

After a few days of bad weather the birds and critters gather on the deck and at the feeders for a fill up. The blues jays fling the seeds out of the feeder trying to get the particular kind that they want. This allows the morning doves to have their own banquet. The Juncos like to feed on the flat surface as well. This one is patiently awaiting his turn.

There is a squirrel that visits on occasion. The birds will bully him away so he waits until they have finished. The squirrels are not so cooperative in the spring and summer perhaps because they have more back up. The birds can be surprisingly aggressive when they all want to feed at the same time.

These pictures were taken this winter after one of our heavier snowfalls. I always enjoy watching them and listening to their squabbles. They brighten my winter days.

Until next time
