I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

Some demons caught me by surprise and upset some days. I don’t welcome them, they just show up.
“Depression is when you have lots of love, but no one’s taking.”
Douglas Coupland
It can feel that way, all the ghosts of the past and present come to visit and want to set up residence in my brain
“You say you’re ‘depressed’ – all I see is resilience. You are allowed to feel messed up and inside out. It doesn’t mean you’re defective – it just means you’re human.”
David Mitchell, Cloud Atlas
I know from past experience that these fellows will go away again, but each time they visit I lose confidence for awhile. I’ve now decided to be proactive and kick them out,,
“Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.”
William Ernest Henley
As am I
“Hope is the feeling we have that the feeling we have is not permanent.”
Mignon McLaughlin
Until next time

I love the way you’ve chosen to speak up through the poetry of others and glimpses of your own poetic feeling–raw, hurt, hope-filled and fighting. The combination of poetry, commentary and photos tell a story that touches the heart… and leave me cheering for the self that collected it all.
