This is the third week in our discussions about the aging process.
Thus far we’ve talked about the changes in mind and body and have used the metaphor of the seasons to look at the stages of life.
But have you every thought that you’ve missed something?
I’m not speaking about appointments or social events but instead, something else, something sensed but just out of reach.
Perhaps a happening in a friend’s life, perhaps seeds unplanted that would by now have died, a special trip to a favourite destination, perhaps something lost.
In any event the feeling hovers about our days, a mystery yet unsolved.
I like this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson
“For everything you have missed, you have gained something else and for everything you gain, you lose something else”
